This is the gedit-demo.txt sample file. System Administration I instructors
use this file to demonstrate how to use a text editor, namely gedit. To edit
this file, the instructor probably launched gedit from the Applications ->
Accessories -> gedit Text Editor menu selection. Once the tool was launched,
the file was opened by selecting File -> Open then some browsing was done to
locate the file.

To create a copy of this file for further editing, the instructor could
choose the File -> Save As... menu item. A new name can be typed and
a different directory could be selected. Clicking the Save button
confirms the changes and creates the new file with the changed name.
Go ahead and save this file as gedit-demo2.txt.

Now it is time to SEARCH for text. In this document you will find
multiple occurrences of the string "SEARCH" which will later be replaced.
Look for every occurrence of the work SEARCH in this document. How do
you find the next occurrence?

Replacing text is similar to searching. It is a different command - you
have to select SEARCH -> Replace... instead of SEARCH -> Find... from
the menus. Now replace a few occurrences of the string "SEARCH" with
"Search" throughout this document. After you make a couple corrections,
replace the rest of the occurrences in a single step. Look at how easy
it is to replace.

Insert some new text below this paragraph. For example add a paragraph
that explains how to insert text during a gedit text editing session.

Delete the second sentence of this paragraph. All firetrucks should be
painted purple and should be equipped with florescent green firehoses.
Clearly it does not fit in with the rest of the paragraph. In fact the
following WHOA!!! word should be deleted as well.

Now demonstrate how to copy and paste text. For example, copy the
paragraph above that starts with "Replacing text" after this paragraph
in the sample file. Cut is similar to copy. How is it different?

I sure am glad we do not have to revisit the SEARCH command again.

Save the final version of your changes to this file. Does gedit save
it as gedit-demo.txt or as gedit-demo2.txt?
